The Welcome Break Charitable Fund

Welcoming a new charity partnership

Date Posted 15/05/2023 Welcome Break Charitable Fund, Charity Fundraising

We are incredibly excited to unveil our exciting new charity initiative—the Welcome Break Charitable Fund. The fund will enable us, as a business, to make a significant contribution to local and global projects. But we would also like to introduce our new charity partner, Macmillan Cancer Support.

Introducing our new charity partner

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information, and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional, and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care.

The Welcome Break Charitable Fund

The Welcome Break Charitable Fund has been established to support both local and national charitable projects through fundraising and volunteering efforts. It will mean a greater focus on local charitable initiatives whilst supporting nationwide charities and worldwide disasters impacting everyday people.

As part of the new initiative, for every pound donated to the Welcome Break Charitable Fund, 65p will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, 30p will be donated to local community projects in and around the area of each Welcome Break site and 5p will be donated to fund any worldwide disasters.

Nicola Marshall, People Director and Chair of the Welcome Break Charitable Fund, expressed her excitement about the initiative, stating: "We’re so excited to launch the Welcome Break Charitable Fund, which is all about giving back and making a positive impact in our local communities.

We couldn’t be more thrilled to be supporting Macmillan Cancer Support, and what better way to kick off our partnership than with some Eurovision-themed fun this May? Let's get ready to party for a good cause!"

Kate Goldman-Toomey, Director of Revenue Innovation, Corporate Partnerships & Philanthropy at Macmillan Cancer Support, also shared her enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the challenges faced by individuals living with cancer. She expressed her gratitude towards Welcome Break's team members and customers, emphasizing the importance of their support in ensuring Macmillan's presence from day one of a cancer diagnosis.

Through a series of fundraising activities and volunteering efforts, we will aim to support vital projects and provide essential resources to those in need. So, whether you're grabbing a quick bite or taking a break during a long journey, your visit to Welcome Break will contribute to a positive change.
