Mental health matters
Welcome Break Partner with Mates in Mind
Be a mate. Be the change.
This Christmas, we’re proud to be partnering with Mates in Mind to offer support to those travelling on the roads this festive season. Whilst it may be a jolly time for many, this is not the case for everyone. Whether you’re driving home for Christmas, or spending it on the road, we want you to know that there is always support.
Statistics show that those working in construction and other related sectors are more likely to experience mental health issues. Randstad’s 2023 ‘Health and Well-being in the Workplace’ report also found that 27% of logistics workers surveyed had taken time off work due to unmanageable stress or mental health conditions in the previous 12 months. This is just one of the reasons why Mates in Mind are working towards creating better environments within the industry.
Mates in Mind was founded in 2016 with a mission to support organisations in creating environments and cultures that promote positive mental health in and through work. Being on the roads can be isolating, whether you’re an HGV driver, working over the festive period, or don’t have your loved ones with you. Mates in Mind are there for you throughout the year and especially during the festive season which is one of the busiest and most stressful times of the year, both personally and professionally. They understand that the strain of work and loneliness can negatively impact on mental health, which is why they are encouraging people to speak up, seek help and break the stigma.
If you feel like you need support, or notice someone else who might, visit https://www.matesinmind.org/need-help to find a range of free, confidential support services. Alternatively, you can use the Mates in Mind ‘BeAMate’ text service, available 24/7. To use, simply text “BeAMate” to 85258 and a trained volunteer can help with issues including anxiety, stress, loneliness or depression. Be a mate, be the change.
