Making Christmas a little brighter
Operation Christmas Child at Welcome Break
This year, we are proud to announce we are supporting Operation Christmas Child at Welcome Break.
From 14th – 21st November, all Welcome Break locations will be accepting donations of shoeboxes containing gifts for children all around the world who are facing the most difficult circumstances.
Simply find a shoebox, fill it with gifts, and bring this into our Welcome Break locations on your pitstops.
For more information on what to pack in the shoeboxes, visit https://www.samaritans-purse.org.uk/what-we-do/operation-christmas-child/how-to-pack-a-shoebox/.
The shoeboxes will be donated to children all over the globe who are suffering. Each shoebox is a small symbol of hope and joy for the children, and we hope on your journeys you can join us in providing support.
Operation Christmas Child began in the UK in 1990, after Dave Cooke, a local businessman in Wrexham and his wife Jill felt called to do something in response to the plight of Romanian orphans at the end of the Cold War. Dave’s sister Jan came up with the concept of the shoebox gift as a form of easily transportable ‘Christmas stocking’ wrapped and packed with love. A tangible message of hope for children in the toughest of circumstances.
