The Welcome Break Charitable Fund

Our new charity partnership with National Emergencies Trust

Date Posted 01/05/2024 Events

We are thrilled to announce our new charity partnership with National Emergencies Trust, making us their 11th corporate patron.

National Emergencies Trust is an independent charity dedicated to responding to UK disasters and was launched by its Royal Patron His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales in November 2019.

Within as little as 4 hours of a national emergency taking place, National Emergencies Trust will launch a nationwide fundraising appeal to ensure those affected receive financial aid as soon as they need it.

The Welcome Break Charitable Fund

The Welcome Break Charitable Fund was established to support both local and national charitable projects through fundraising and volunteering efforts. We recognise the importance of supporting a charity who will provide support and assistance to those who need it the most, in the event of emergencies and unexpected crises.

Aligning with our charity initiatives, for every £1 donated to the Welcome Break Charitable Fund, 65p will be donated to Macmillan Cancer Support, 30p will be donated to local community projects in and around the area of each Welcome Break site and 5p will be donated to the National Emergencies Trust.

Our commitment to becoming a corporate patron to the National Emergencies Trust includes our time to offer in-kind support and volunteering opportunities for the Trust. Outside of emergency appeals, funding will enable the Trust to focus on projects that improve outcomes for survivors of UK disasters.

Our People Director, Nicola Marshall, said “At Welcome Break, we believe in the profound impact of giving back to our local communities, especially to provide critical support in times of crisis. We are proud to launch our new partnership with National Emergencies Trust to enable our teams to raise vital funds and provide support to our local communities when they need it, across the UK. It's our collective responsibility to foster positive change for those who are most affected by disasters, and we are committed to continuing our efforts in making a meaningful difference where it matters most.”

Mhairi Sharp, CEO of the National Emergencies Trust, said: “We are thrilled to have Welcome Break on board as our newest Patron partner. Their year-round funding will enable us to offer continuous support to disaster survivors, from backing survivor-led research initiatives to ensuring that survivors will have access to faster, tailored mental health support during future emergencies. With their widespread presence in key locations across all four nations of the UK, they are strategically positioned to swiftly respond to any incident.”
