Sourcing and Supply Chain

We recognise the importance of engaging with our suppliers on ESG-related issues, including climate change, in order to understand how these issues are factored into their products and services.

In 2024, we circulated an ESG questionnaire amongst our key suppliers and are in the process of analysing the data that we have collected. This data provides us with information about what our suppliers are doing, highlighting areas where we can collaborate with suppliers for greater impact.

Modern Slavery Statement

Welcome Break has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically, with integrity and transparency in all business dealings, and have systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within our business or supply chain.

Human Rights

We will not tolerate, nor will we condone, abuse of human rights within any part of our business or supply chain. Any allegations that human rights are not properly respected are taken very seriously. We are committed to building knowledge and awareness of human rights across our team members and encourage our teams to speak up, without fear of retribution, about any concerns they may have.

Packaging

Packaging plays an essential role in both our branded and own-branded operations. It protects the products that are sold on our sites, keeping them fresh and safe for customers.

We know that there are opportunities to improve both the usage of packaging and the packaging itself and work with our own-brand packaging suppliers to continually rethink how we store and serve food and beverages.

Using Less Packaging

We have a variety of messaging in place at our Burger King and KFC units to encourage our customers to dine-in when visiting us so as to reduce use of takeaway packaging such as cup holders and bags.

Additionally, at our own-brand, The Good Breakfast, customers who choose to dine-in are served their food on reusable crockery and with reusable cutlery. This cuts down the use of disposable packaging considerably, and in turn reduces waste.

There are also a variety of opportunities for customers to use their own hot drinks cups on site, with some of our partner brands offering a discount for the use of such cups, as well as opportunities for customers to refill their water bottles at Starbucks outlets. In addition to this, brands such as Starbucks, WHSmith, and Pret offer opportunities for customers to purchase reusable packaging and containers.
